Interim Director of Finance & IT
Location: London (hybrid working available)
Duration: 9 months
Working pattern: 4 days per week (open to 5 days)
Start Date: As soon as possible
A well-established, globally connected organisation is seeking an Interim Director of Finance & IT to provide leadership and stability during a critical period of digital transformation.
This is a hands-on role that combines strategic oversight with operational delivery, reporting directly to the CEO and supporting both the finance function and IT operations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading an agreed IT transformation programme, including migrating core infrastructure (file servers, CRM, and accounting systems) to the cloud, while ensuring the organisation’s day-to-day operations continue to run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and operational management of the finance function and IT infrastructure.
- Oversee the delivery of an IT transformation project, including cloud migration using Microsoft ecosystems (365, Dynamics, Azure).
- Manage financial reporting, risk registers, compliance, budgeting, and KPI dashboards.
- Lead a small finance team and manage relationships with key external suppliers, including IT and legal.
- Support the CEO, including attendance at board meetings and acting as representative on finance-related matters.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA preferred) with substantial post-qualification experience.
- Proven track record in finance leadership, ideally with experience in both large corporate and small/charity settings.
- Experience in delivering complex IT transformation projects and managing accounting system migrations.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile).
- Strong commercial acumen, supplier management, and risk handling capabilities.
- Background in the UK charity or non-profit sector.
- Experience with property and lease management.
- Understanding of government grant administration and fundraising processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Business Central and Power BI.
