D365 F&O Functional Consultant - Transactional Finance - London/Hybrid - £550.00 -£600.00 Outside IR

Our London based client are working through an exciting Finance Transformation programme implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). They are looking for an experienced D365 F&O Finance Functional Consultant, with a strong focus transactional finance processes (AP, AR, O2C) to join them on an initial 5 month outside IR35 contract.

The successful candidate will bring hands-on D365 F&O functional consulting experience, supporting configuration, solution design, issue resolution and process optimisation across the Finance workstream. They will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure the system meets business requirements and supports efficient, controlled finance operations.

The role will require 3 days per week onsite at the clients central London offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide functional consulting expertise across D365 F&O Finance, covering transactional finance modules including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and Cash & Bank Management.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into functional solutions using standard D365 F&O capabilities.
• Support end-to-end Procure-to-Pay processes, including supplier invoice processing, purchase order matching, invoice approval workflows, payment runs, supplier credit notes, settlements and vendor reconciliations.
• Support end-to-end Order-to-Cash processes, including customer invoicing, sales order processing, credit notes, customer payments, settlements, credit management and accounts receivable reconciliations.
• Configure, review and troubleshoot Finance functionality, including posting profiles, workflows, financial dimensions, payment methods and subledger-to-General Ledger integration.
• Investigate complex functional issues and transaction processing defects, identify root causes and work with technical, integration and data teams to implement solutions.
• Review existing system configurations and business processes, recommending improvements to functionality, automation, efficiency and financial controls.
• Support transactional finance processes across purchasing, sales, inventory, banking and the General Ledger, ensuring accurate transaction flows and accounting.
• Contribute to functional design documentation, system configuration, testing, defect resolution, regression testing and user acceptance testing.
• Support data validation, deployment, cutover and post-go-live activities throughout the implementation.
• Work directly with Finance stakeholders to understand operational challenges, provide functional guidance and ensure D365 F&O solutions meet business requirements.

Experience & Skills

• Strong hands-on experience as a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Functional Consultant.
• Proven functional expertise across transactional finance processes, particularly Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash.
• Practical experience with D365 F&O configuration, functional design, troubleshooting and defect resolution.
• Strong understanding of supplier and customer transaction processing, invoice and credit note management, payment processing, settlements and account reconciliations.
• Knowledge of General Ledger integration, posting profiles, financial dimensions and core accounting principles.
• Experience supporting D365 F&O implementations, system testing, data validation and deployment activities.
• Ability to work effectively with Finance stakeholders, developers, integration teams and other functional consultants.

The Person

We are looking for a hands-on D365 F&O Functional Consultant with broad transactional finance expertise and a strong understanding of how end-to-end finance processes operate within an ERP environment.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable translating business requirements into practical system solutions, configuring and troubleshooting functionality across AP, AR, P2P and O2C, and resolving complex issues in collaboration with business and technical teams. They will bring a pragmatic, solution-focused approach to improving finance processes and supporting a successful D365 F&O implementation.
