Senior Systems Administrator (Azure)

Location: Oxfordshire

Hybrid working model (one day per week on-site)

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

A large, purpose-led organisation is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator with strong Azure and infrastructure experience to support, secure, and optimise resilient cloud services within a compliance-driven environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Building, supporting, and maintaining Azure infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS)
  • Ensuring security, compliance, and resilience across platforms, including vulnerability management and security hardening
  • Managing hybrid Azure / on-prem environments and Entra ID
  • Supporting backup, disaster recovery, and failover processes
  • Monitoring and responding to security alerts, vulnerabilities, and system events
  • Supporting audits and compliance activities (PCI, Cyber Essentials)
  • Identifying opportunities to optimise cloud performance and cost efficiency
  • Contributing to documentation, runbooks, and continuous service improvement
  • Working within ITIL-aligned service management environments

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in a senior infrastructure / sysadmin role
  • Strong hands-on Azure experience
  • Solid security experience, including vulnerability management and endpoint protection (e.g. Microsoft Defender)
  • Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell)
  • Strong server administration across Windows/Linux environments
  • Experience working in compliance-driven environments and supporting audits
  • Confident communicator in a global operating environment

Nice to have:

  • Azure certifications
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Advanced cloud networking
  • Intune / endpoint management (Autopilot)
  • SIEM tools (e.g. Sentinel)
  • ITIL certification / ServiceNow experience
