Location:Fully onsite Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria
Contract: 6 Month Contract (Extension possible)
Rate: £500£600 per day Inside IR35

We are seeking a Site Technical Architect with deep expertise in enterprise network infrastructure, structured cabling, and on-site delivery. The role involves leading the design, coordination, and implementation of on-site network projects, including comms rooms, cabling, Cisco networking solutions, storage systems, and UPS infrastructure. Ideal candidates will have hands-on technical experience, excellent documentation skills, and a proven ability to deliver complex network solutions in secure or regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, planning, and on-site implementation of network infrastructure projects
- Oversee comms room layouts, rack design, patching schemes, cable management, and end-to-end structured cabling (copper and fibre)
- Produce and maintain High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLD/LLD), installation standards, and technical documentation
- Provide technical assurance for containment, labelling, pathways, and site installation compliance
- Assist engineers with Cisco network equipment configuration and troubleshooting (switching, routing, wireless, firewalls)
- Support integration of SAN/NAS storage platforms and associated networking
- Plan and coordinate UPS installations, power requirements, and resilience considerations
- Conduct on-site assessments, surveys, and hardware audits to validate designs
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and security teams for seamless delivery
- Ensure infrastructure solutions meet operational, security, and compliance standards
- Liaise with 3rd parties and suppliers for quotes, delivery management, and issue resolution
- Strong hands-on experience in enterprise network infrastructure and on-site implementation
- Expertise in structured cabling (Cat5e/6/6a), fibre types, termination standards, and containment
- Hands-on experience with Cisco switching and routing (IOS/NX-OS)
- Working knowledge of wireless technologies, VLANs, routing protocols, DHCP, DNS, and network segmentation
- Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and connectivity requirements
- Familiarity with UPS technologies, power distribution, and comms room environmental considerations
- Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings, rack elevations, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Strong stakeholder communication and ability to lead technical discussions on-site
- SC clearance mandatory
- Experience insecure or regulated environments(defence, government, critical national infrastructure)
- Knowledge ofITSM processes(e.g., ServiceNow)
- Understanding ofdatacentre standards, redundancy, cooling, and monitoring
- Relevant certifications (CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+/Server+, vendor-specific cabling accreditations)
