Role Overview

We are seeking a Current Accounts Jr. Architect with strong experience in the Banking sector, specifically across Current Accounts and Packaged/Paid-for Accounts. This role requires expertise in solution architecture, account life cycle management, onboarding, servicing, charging, and account maintenance across retail banking platforms.

The successful candidate will work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to design scalable and compliant solutions across a multi-platform environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design architecture solutions for Current Account and Packaged Account journeys, including onboarding, servicing, charging, and account maintenance.
  • Produce high-level and low-level architecture artefacts aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Engineering Leads, and SMEs to define functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Support platform modernisation initiatives, including Legacy transformation and API-led integration.
  • Review and improve existing architecture for scalability, compliance, performance, and security.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory, security, and integration standards.
  • Partner with teams across payments, statements, digital channels, fraud/risk, and customer communications.
  • Support engineering teams during delivery to ensure alignment with architectural design.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in banking technology with architecture experience in retail banking environments.
  • Expertise in Current Accounts, including:
    • Packaged/Paid-for Accounts
    • Monthly charging rules
    • Benefits eligibility
    • Account life cycle management
    • Onboarding and servicing
    • Overdrafts, mandates, and account switching
  • Experience delivering large-scale transformation programmes across core banking or customer servicing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Solution architecture
    • API integration
    • Microservices
    • Event-driven architecture
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to regulatory and compliance requirements in retail banking.
  • Experience with packaged account benefits integrations such as insurance or membership services.
