Data Engineer - SC Cleared

£530 per day (PAYE only)

We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a newly formed scrum team working on a large-scale, data-driven platform within a highly regulated public sector environment. This role focuses on developing and enhancing core data acquisition, ingestion, and risking services that support critical analytics and decision-making.
The Role
You'll play a key role in designing and delivering scalable data pipelines and integration services, consolidating multiple data sources into a unified, high-performance platform. The work supports complex analytical and BI workloads using modern data engineering, AWS, and DevOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy data integration and transformation solutions
- Develop scalable data pipelines and services for analytics and BI platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver robust solutions
- Contribute to Agile/Scrum delivery and continuous improvement
- Implement DevOps practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment
- Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards are met
- Troubleshoot complex data and performance issues
- Support and mentor junior engineers where required
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong ETL experience with Pentaho and Talend
- Data virtualisation experience using Denodo
- SAS experience for data analytics and reporting
- Strong SQL and data modelling skills
- Hands-on AWS experience supporting data platforms and pipelines
- DevOps experience (eg Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
