Node.js Developer - £450 Inside - 6 months

Job Title: Node.js Developer
Rate: £450 (Inside IR35)
Duration: 6 months
Location: Initially in the office 2 days per week in Newcastle (for the first 4 weeks) then fully remote with occasional visits (once a month)
Clearance: BPSS

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Back End services and APIs using Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external services.
• Write clean, modular and well-tested code.
• Develop automated unit, integration and API tests.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues and performance problems.
• Work with DevOps engineers to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Deploy and operate applications in cloud-based environments.
• Monitor application performance, availability and security.
• Contribute to technical design and architectural decisions.
• Work collaboratively in an Agile/Scrum or similar delivery environment.
• Support continuous improvement through automation, documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure applications meet accessibility, security, data protection and service reliability requirements.

Essential Skills and ExperienceNode.js/JavaScript

• Strong commercial experience developing applications with Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, with experience using TypeScript desirable.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and Back End services.
• Good understanding of asynchronous programming, promises, event-driven architecture and error handling.
• Experience with frameworks such as Express.js, Fastify or NestJS.
• Understanding of API authentication and authorisation mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
