Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior/Lead Mobile Engineer with strong React Native and Expo experience to support the review of an existing hybrid mobile application.
The role will focus on delivering a detailed tactical assessment of the current solution and providing strategic input into future mobile architecture decisions, including evaluating whether a hybrid approach remains suitable for long-term use.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive technical review of an existing hybrid mobile application
- Assess strengths, limitations, and risks of the current React Native/Expo approach
- Provide strategic recommendations for future mobile solutions
- Support options analysis for hybrid vs native approaches
- Collaborate with technical and delivery stakeholders
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven delivery of cross-platform/hybrid mobile applications through full SDLC to app store release
- Strong experience with React Native and Expo
- Experience integrating with APIs
- Solid understanding of iOS and Android platforms, including limitations of hybrid frameworks
- Ability to operate at senior/lead level, providing architectural and strategic guidance
Desirable Experience
- Native iOS and/or Android development experience
- Offline synchronisation within mobile applications
- Experience with Government SSO solutions (eg GOV.UK One Login, Government Gateway)
- Prior experience within public sector environments
