Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join a major public sector programme, delivering advanced analytical solutions that support evidence-based decision-making and service improvement.
This role requires a highly capable data professional who can combine deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement and delivery leadership. You'll be responsible for leading the development of analytical products, leveraging data science, machine learning, and AI techniques to solve complex business challenges and influence strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of data science and machine learning solutions, from problem definition through to deployment and adoption
- Apply advanced analytics, statistical modelling, machine learning, and AI techniques to solve complex business problems
- Translate business requirements into analytical opportunities and actionable insights
- Work with large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders and decision-makers
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including Digital, Transformation, Service Delivery, and Data functions
- Support evidence-based decision-making through robust analytical approaches
- Drive adoption and implementation of analytical products and recommendations
- Prioritise workloads and coordinate delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the wider data community
Essential Skills & Experience
- Active SC Clearance
- Proven experience operating as a Senior Data Scientist within complex environments
- Strong expertise in machine learning, predictive analytics, statistical modelling, and AI solutions
- Experience working with large-scale, complex datasets
- Ability to translate technical analysis into meaningful business outcomes
- Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills
- Experience influencing senior leaders and supporting strategic decision-making
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrable experience leading the delivery of analytical products and services
- Strong prioritisation and organisational skills
Desirable Experience
- Public sector or government experience
- Experience working within multidisciplinary agile teams
- Exposure to digital transformation programmes
- Experience combining technical leadership with elements of product, delivery, and stakeholder management
- Knowledge of modern cloud-based analytics platforms and tools
