Role Title: Zscaler Engineer
Location: Fully Remote
Duration: Initial 3-month contract
Rate: £500/day inside IR35
Clearance: M ust be eligible for BPSS

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Zscaler Engineer to support and optimise an existing enterprise Zscaler deployment (ZIA/ZPA).

This role will focus on reviewing the current implementation, maintaining day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring secure and reliable user/application access across the organisation.

The successful consultant will work closely with Network and IDAM teams to maintain secure, aligned, and high-performing services.

Key Responsibilities

Zscaler Operations & Support

• Review and document existing Zscaler architecture, including traffic flows, authentication methods, and integrations
• Manage day-to-day ZIA/ZPA operations:
  • Policy management
  • Log monitoring
  • User/device onboarding support
• Troubleshoot issues relating to:
  • Connectivity
  • Authentication failures
  • Zscaler Client Connector
  • Policy-related access blocks

Network & Identity Collaboration

• Work closely with Network teams on:
  • GRE/IPsec tunnels
  • DNS
  • SD-WAN
  • Traffic routing and optimisation
• Partner with IDAM teams on:
  • SSO/SAML integrations
  • SCIM provisioning
  • Identity policies
  • Certificate/SSL requirements

Security, Reporting & Compliance

• Produce operational/security reports covering:
  • User activity
  • Threat monitoring
  • Tunnel health
  • Usage patterns
• Support integrations with:
  • SIEM platforms
  • Security tooling
  • Identity platforms
• Assist with audits, security reviews, and compliance activities
• Recommend service improvements and maintain configuration hygiene

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• Hands-on experience administering Zscaler ZIA and/or ZPA
• Strong understanding of:
  • Zero Trust architecture
  • DNS/HTTPS
  • SSL inspection
  • GRE/IPsec tunnels
  • SSO integrations (Azure AD/Okta)
• Strong troubleshooting experience across:
  • Network issues
  • Identity/authentication
  • Policy-driven access controls
• Ability to collaborate across Network and IDAM teams
• Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills

Preferred Experience

• Zscaler certifications:
  • ZCCA-IA
  • ZCCA-PA
  • ZCP
• Experience with:
  • SD-WAN
  • Automation (PowerShell/Python)
  • ITIL processes
  • Cloud or network security environments
