Junior Full Stack Developer
Recyclr is a pre-seed startup creating a new breed of solutions for the waste and recycling industry to tackle £1bn of waste crime, recycling rates stuck at 44%, and £400m a year spent clearing fly-tippyng. Our founders have deep collective experience across scaling, product design, software development, fundraising and exits.
You’ll be a solid full stack Junior Full Stack Developer keen to take the next step in your career in a startup that's moving fast. You’ll have a 100% ownership mentality, be hands-on, able to deliver builds, tests, fixes to a high quality.
Tech stack and AI
Mobile: React Native (Expo), TypeScript, Tailwind.
Web: Next.js / React (Vite), Tailwind + shadcn/ui
Backend: Spring Boot (Java), Spring Data JPA / Hibernate, Flyway
Infrastructure & Data: PostgreSQL (AWS RDS), Terraform, AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, SES, SQS, Lambda), Docker, GitHub Actions (CI/CD)
External services: Clerk (auth), Stripe (payments, Tap to Pay), SendGrid (email), Google Maps
AI is a core part of how we build. We expect it to be used well. That means planning before prompting, breaking work into clear specs, letting the agent handle the mechanical parts, and then reading, shaping, and owning what comes back. We look for candidates who already work this way.
Responsibilities- Build new features following designs to deliver production-ready releases
- Support and bug fixing of user reported issues
- End to end testing, debugging and performance optimisation of your code and others
- Integration and testing of APIs, third-party services and compliance systems
- Integration, management and support of Stripe payment products
- Contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement and technical design discussions
- Contributing to architecture decisions as we scale from MVP
- Attend 1 customer site per quarter with Product Owner for customer feedback
Essential Skills and Experience- 2+ years hands on software development
- A passion for development you can demonstrate through a portfolio of projects
- Some or all of the languages listed above or similar
- AI tools: Claude, Cursor or similar
- Comfortable working in fast-moving startup environments and owning your outcomes
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- An ambition to scale a startup to exit in the next 2-4 years
Starting Package (London Based)- £35,000 – £45,000 salary DOE
