A leading IT consultancy is continuing its rapid growth and is looking to hire Senior and Lead Java Engineers to work on large-scale, high-impact digital programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a strong engineering community working on modern, cloud-native solutions.

• Locations: Manchester, Telford, Worthing, Leeds, Bristol & London
• Hybrid working – 2 days onsite per week
• Salary
• £70,000 – £90,000 per annum
• Candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance

The Role

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary, agile delivery team, building and supporting high-quality Java-based services from design through to production. As a Senior or Lead Engineer, you’ll also play a key role in mentoring others and helping to drive engineering best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver user stories as part of an agile, cross-functional team
• Design, develop, test, deploy and support Java services end to end
• Build RESTful APIs and microservices using modern Java and Spring Boot
• Work in a DevSecOps environment, using CI/CD, monitoring and automation tools
• Apply strong engineering practices including TDD, BDD and automated testing
• Support and mentor junior engineers, helping to raise technical standards
• Contribute to solution design, architecture and continuous improvement

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience building REST APIs and loosely coupled microservices
• Solid understanding of TDD , unit testing and integration testing
• Experience with open-source frameworks and modern development approaches
• Comfortable working in agile delivery environments

Desirable Experience

• Spring JPA, AOP, Transactions
• SQL and NoSQL databases
• Containers and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• CI/CD pipelines and application security principles
