Senior Software Engineer - Java/Springboot

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major global consulting and digital transformation organisation, recognised for delivering large-scale solutions across some of the UK's most influential sectors. Their teams partner with government departments, financial services institutions, energy companies, major retailers, and other household-name enterprises to modernise services used by millions.

Salary range of £60,000 - £70,000 & £4k bonus.

The role will be mostly remote with very occasional office travel to client sites (likely to be 1/2x per month) to either London, Manchester, Newcastle, or Glasgow. You will be able to pick a location nearest to you.

As a Senior Java Full Stack Engineer, you'll work on complex, high-visibility projects—building modern, scalable digital products that drive real business change. You'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and gain exposure to a wide variety of technologies, including Java, Spring Boot, Kotlin, Node.js, React, microservices, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 5 years commercial software engineering experience
  • Strong experience building microservices with Java (Spring Boot)
  • Proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript, including building front-end applications with React, HTML, and CSS
  • Solid experience with Git and platforms like GitHub/GitLab
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Docker Compose
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Experience with AWS or Azure cloud environments
  • Comfortable working within an agile delivery environment

Desirable

  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform)
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred) or SQL such as Postgres
  • Understanding of web standards, accessibility, and engineering best practices
