Role Overview
You will lead a team of engineers who are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining critical platform components. The role combines people leadership, technical direction, delivery management, and cross functional collaboration with product.
You will shape roadmap decisions, ensure engineering excellence, and guide your teams growth and performance.
Technical Leadership
Take ownership of a core technical area and guide short to mid term planning
Collaborate with senior engineers to shape system design and architectural direction
Hands on coding and a strong focus on stability, performance, security and long term operability
Promote clarity through documentation, standards and knowledge sharing
Delivery Management
Oversee planning and execution of development work across the team
Prioritise effectively between strategic initiatives and reactive work
Encourage momentum while promoting thoughtful engineering practices
Ensure operational issues are investigated, addressed and learned from
Cross Functional Collaboration
Work closely with product leadership to align scope, priorities and timelines
Provide clear communication around progress, trade offs and risks
People Leadership
Manage and mentor engineers with varying levels of experience
Offer structured coaching, performance feedback and progression support
Build an environment based on ownership, trust and constructive challenge
Contribute to hiring processes and help develop high performing teams
Qualifications
Previous experience leading engineers within a product focused environment
Background in financial services, regulated technology, or similarly complex domains is beneficial
Strong understanding of modern engineering practices, architectures and tooling
Comfortable leading in an agile or iterative development setting
Clear communicator with strong decision making capability
Demonstrated ability to balance technical depth with practical delivery
