Project Support Engineer – Communications

Office Location: Redditch, Worcestershire

Job Type: Full-Time- Permanent

Travel: up to 50% (UK & EU)- (no more than 2 weeks in a month)

Salary: Competitive (Dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are looking for a technically minded and collaborative individual to join our Communications business unit as a Project Support Engineer. This is a hands-on role where you will support the delivery of complex networking and communications projects, with a particular focus on Wave Relay MANET technology and hardware.

Working alongside our Business Development, Project Management, and Engineering teams, you will play a vital role in ensuring project success through technical support, asset management, and direct customer engagement. This position offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to work at the forefront of communications solutions within the UK defence sector.

What you will be doing

  • Manage and baseline customer equipment fleets.
  • Perform health checks and configuration management of Wave Relay hardware.
  • Respond to technical support queries and resolve help desk tickets.
  • Maintain the customer’s technical reference system.
  • Create and maintain documentation (SWOT/IMPACT/RCA).
  • Support customer demonstrations, trials, and field activities.
  • Collaborate with teams to evaluate and integrate new software/hardware.
  • Provide hands-on customer support for communications systems across projects.

What we are looking for

You are a confident problem-solver with a strong technical background in communications, electronics, networking, or RF systems. You enjoy working in a team environment but can take ownership of your tasks to ensure successful delivery.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Engineering qualifications in communications/electronics (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of networking, IP scheming, and RF theory.
  • Strong understanding of IP networks, troubleshooting, and engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with technical teams.
  • Ability to manage tasks, track progress, and meet deadlines.
  • Eligible for UK security clearance.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to safely handle technical equipment (up to 20kg).
  • Regular travel is required as part of the role – UK & EU

Desirable:

  • Experience in Defence, Communications, Intelligence, or Special Operations.
  • Familiarity with MANET networks.
  • Customer-facing technical support experience.
