Information Analyst
Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established Business Intelligence team as we continue to develop our data warehouse and enhance our Tableau reporting solutions, improving the way information supports performance management, service delivery and improvement.
Reporting to the Senior Analyst team, the post holder will contribute to the production of statutory and national returns, as well as delivering accurate and timely reporting to clinical and non-clinical colleagues across the Trust.
As demand for high-quality performance information continues to grow, the role requires a proactive and flexible team member who can support a range of reporting requirements while maintaining strong attention to data quality and detail.
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of a supportive and dynamic team delivering an effective information and analytical service to the Trust. The role involves producing high-quality routine and ad hoc analysis to support operational performance monitoring and service improvement.
You will contribute to the development and maintenance of performance reports, indicators and dashboards, ensuring data is accurate, timely and clearly presented to support decision-making.
We are looking for an organised and detail-focused individual with strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem solving. You will be proactive, be able to manage competing priorities, and be confident working both independently and as part of a team.
You will have experience working with data, strong Excel skills, and a good understanding of data quality principles. Knowledge of NHS datasets and performance standards would be advantageous but is not essential, as training will be provided.
The role involves liaising with colleagues across the organisation to clarify reporting requirements and explain data outputs in a clear and accessible way.

Education & Qualifications
- Educated to degree level in relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Membership of a relevant Fed-IP recognised professional body (BCS, IHRIM, AphA, CILIP).
Skills & Abilities
- Good problem solving and analytical skills, working logically and with great attention to detail
- Accuracy when inputting data and writing queries
- Excellent interpersonal and communicaton skills both written and verbal
Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Knowledge of the most effective ways to present information.
- Knowledge of NHS data definitions, common datasets and statutory returns
- Good understanding of IG and the importance of high data quality, confidentiality & security in a health service environment
- Knowledge of NHS policies/agenda especially in the context of standards and targets relating to information and performance
- Knowledge of NHS administrative and clinical systems.
Experience
- Experience of working in a role requiring proficiency in data manipulation, analysis and presentation.
- Experience of developing dashboards and monitoring key indicators.
- Experience of working under pressure, to deadlines.
- Experience of automating data reporting.
- Experience of working with colleagues from other disciplines and at different levels of seniority.
- Practical experience of SQL script writing.
- Experience of using business intelligence reporting tools e.g. SSRS/Tableau.
- Previous proven experience of working in Information Management in the NHS or Healthcare environment with the associated specialist knowledge.
