Senior Pharmacy Support Worker - Homecare
Job summary
This is an exciting new role within the Homecare Team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. You will provide administrative and operational support ensuring the safe, efficient and timely delivery of the homecare service across Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.You will need to be methodical and well organised, with excellent IT skills. You will be expected to be enthusiastic and willing to work with the team to expand the service.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the existing Homecare and Clinical teams throughout the trust. You will support the smooth running of the service ensuring that prescriptions are processed accurately and in a timely manner. You will support the wider team in invoice reconciliation and general maintenance of homecare pharmacy records within the Ascribe and homecare specific digital systems. You will be the first point of contact for users of the Service, Clinical Teams and external Homecare service providers and be responsible for the distribution of crucial information. You will be expected to have an excellent telephone manner and excellent communication skills and we be able to speak to people from various multidisciplinary teams. You will have experience of working within a team and be computer literate.

Job responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities Liaise with clinical teams and patients to ensure that prescriptions are written and deliveries are made when required. Monitor and respond to the pharmacy homecare inbox Respond to homecare telephone queries providing advice or referring to the lead Technician or clinical pharmacist when required Administration tasks relating to homecare prescription templates to support the biosimilar switching process Inputting data onto KPI reports so that areas of concern can be monitored and actioned Work closely with the Multidisciplinary team and Homecare service providers to maintain electronic records to ensure accurate tracking of the biosimilar switching process Maintain pharmacy homecare reports Ensure confidentiality is always maintained Work alongside the pharmacy invoice clerk to undertake general administrative tasks ensuring Patient specific orders are received and invoices are processed within the 30 day limit, correcting discrepancies and problem solving.
CommunicationsWritten and verbal communications are expected with both internal and external colleagues including but not limited to: Internal pharmacy and homecare team daily communication with all grades of pharmacy staff to ensure the smooth running of the department Clinical Teams liaison with the clinical teams of whom utilize the homecare service regarding prescription management, signposting when required, and service updatesPatients/ carers - providing information and advice either by telephone or email to patients and/ or carers basic queries regarding the homecare service referring to the appropriate team member when or clinical team if required. Homecare service providers liaison with external homecare providers to ensure that service users needs are met and referring onto the appropriate clinical team if required.
You will be expected to hold a patient and understanding manner when communicating with colleagues and service users; with use of clear and concise language to build and maintain good working relationships.A strong ability to receive queries most often via email and telephone and action appropriately and within scope referring to the appropriate team member when required
Responsibility for Patient Care To always ensure adherence to the Pharmacy Homecare Standards To act as the first point of contact handling inbound and outbound calls and emails from patients, caregivers and clinical staff with empathy and professionalism to ensure communications are dealt with in a timely and effective manner Always work in line with Trust values To provide advice and support and reassurance to patients who may have queries regarding the homecare service
Planning and organising Organise and prioritise own workload and when necessary, assist other pharmacy team members Maintain a broad understanding of Pharmacy Homecare practices and actively contribute ideas for improvement of service To be able to work independently and as a team Ensure work is carried out in a timely and accurate manner Maintain up to date trackers and databases to ensure smooth transition of patient treatment
Responsibilities for Physical and / or Financial Resources Ensures that prescription orders are sent in a timely manner using various digital systems Responsible for maintenance of prescription trackers Supports the team in processing biosimilar switches to ensure the use of the most cost-effective biologics Supports the invoicing team in ensuring correct and prompt payment to external suppliers Maintain records to enable the delivery of expenditure savings to the relevant stakeholders Administrative tasks supporting the clinical teams with biosimilar switching and new Homecare services Receive and process Homecare prescriptions in line with Standard Operating Procedures through the patient specific ordering system within Ascribe.

Responsibilities for data and information resourcesA varied and wide number of resources are used throughout the department along with the ongoing development of digital systems. The postholder will ensure that all resources are utilized and manged appropriately to maximise efficiency within the service. Resources include Homecare Service Provider Portals EMIS Patient Specific ordering system within EMIS Email Microsoft office package including Word and Excel Advantis CDS Tracked postal service
Research, Development and Audit Participate in cost saving projects Handling of data relating to homecare prescription processing, receipt and invoicing Participate in Homecare based audits in line with the GPHC pharmacy and Homecare Standards under the guidance and supervision of the Pharmacy Technician
Physical Skills and Effort

Person Specification
Education & Qualification
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
- GCSE Mathematics minimum grade 4/C
- GCSE English minimum grade 4/C
- Educated to Level 2 in IT and/or digital systems
- Qualified or working towards Level 3 qualification in Pharmacy Services
Knowledge
- Demonstrates an understanding of homecare services and issues relating to Pharmacy
- General knowledge of specialist biologic medicines found within the pharmacy homecare service
Expereince
- Pharmacy Experience
- Experience of priotizing workload and working to deadlines
- Experience in Hospital Pharmacy
- Experience of using EMIS
Skills & Abilities
