This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to step into a key operational role within a technically challenging and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, operation, and maintenance of all engineering systems within the facility. Working as part of a shift team, you will play a vital role in ensuring uptime, managing risk, and supporting the day-to-day running of the site in accordance with strict technical and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain all mechanical and electrical systems on site, including conducting HV switching (where authorised).
Support or deputise for the Shift Leader when required, assisting with incident response and team coordination.
Perform planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of critical infrastructure systems.
Ensure compliance with method statements, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Supervise and sign off contractor work in line with site standards and permits.
Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, permits, reports, and technical logs.
Assist in preparing and reviewing MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs; participate in drills and scenario testing.
Monitor and escalate risks, service issues, and asset performance as appropriate.
Building Management Systems (BMS)
CRAC, AHU, ACU, FCU, and chiller systems
HV/LV electrical distribution
DRUPS, UPS, and generator systems
Fire detection and suppression systems
Emergency lighting and lighting control
Pumps, VFDs, boilers, and heating plant
CMMS and digital permit systems
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a critical environment such as data centres, hospitals, financial institutions, or defence.
Recognised electrical or mechanical qualification (HNC/HND or Apprenticeship equivalent).
HV Authorised (or willing to obtain).
Excellent communication, documentation, and IT/report writing skills.
Strong knowledge of technical compliance, risk mitigation, and permit systems.
Physically fit, reliable, and comfortable working in a shift-based environment.
IOSH, NEBOSH, or similar health & safety training
Leadership capability under pressure
Familiarity with CAFM and digital PTW systems
Experience with incident and change management processes
