Automation Tester

6 Month Initial Contract | £700 per day | Inside IR35 | London - 2 day onsite

We are seeking an experienced SC-Cleared Automation Tester to join a high-performing technology team delivering enterprise-scale solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background who is passionate about improving test efficiency, building robust automation frameworks, and ensuring high-quality software delivery within agile development environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and implementing automated testing solutions, supporting continuous delivery practices, and collaborating closely with development and QA teams to resolve technical issues and improve overall testing capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for both black box and white box testing

• Develop a strong technical understanding of the systems under test

• Manage the execution, monitoring, and reporting of automated test suites, including performance testing where required

• Design and implement technical solutions to improve testing processes and efficiency

• Work closely with development teams to reproduce, investigate, and resolve defects

• Collaborate with the wider QA team to share ideas, improvements, and best practice

• Define standards and contribute to the ongoing development of automation frameworks used across the business

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong desire and ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues

• Experience writing high-quality object-oriented code, ideally using Java

• Knowledge of build automation tools such as Ant or Maven

• Experience with version control systems including Git or SVN

• Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins

• Strong communication and collaboration skills within software development environments

• Excellent attention to quality and continuous improvement mindset

• Previous testing experience is beneficial but not essential

Desirable Experience

• Experience using testing frameworks such as TestNG or xUnit

• Experience with defect and test management tools such as JIRA

• Experience using web automation tools such as Selenium

• Exposure to technical automation tools including Puppet, Chef, or Vagrant
