Overview
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Day Technician (High Voltage Authorised Person) to join a mission-critical engineering team at a cutting-edge data centre campus in Longcross. This role is ideal for a skilled electrical professional with experience in critical environments who is looking to step into a key position within a dynamic and highly technical facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily walk-rounds to ensure the operational status of all plant and equipment
- Issue and manage Permit to Work (PTW), Authorisation to Work (ATW), Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), and dynamic risk assessments
- Act as an on-site escort for contractors and third-party vendors
- Respond to and resolve reactive faults, breakdowns, and emergency call-outs
- Conduct proactive maintenance and remedial works across electrical and mechanical systems
- Take meter readings and support energy efficiency initiatives
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities in line with contractual obligations
- Update and manage internal maintenance systems (eg CAFM) to track asset history and job completion
- Participate in monthly generator tests and fire alarm testing
- Ensure on-site documentation and logbooks are kept up to date and compliant
- Use client ticketing systems to manage and close reactive work orders in line with SLAs
- Monitor and report on building fabric conditions, ensuring timely repairs and actions
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a data centre or critical environment
- Electrical qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
- HVAP status or working toward High Voltage Authorised Person qualification
- Strong understanding of M&E systems and compliance frameworks
- Experience using CAFM and digital maintenance management systems
- Comfortable working under pressure in a high-availability environment
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Good attention to detail and ownership of responsibilities
Preferred (Not Essential)
- Electrical testing & inspection certification
- Low Voltage Authorised Person certification
- IPAF and PASMA certifications
- Harness inspection training
- HVAC system awareness or qualifications
