Enterprise Services Principal Administrator – Data Centre

Location: London - Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Role Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Enterprise Services Principal Administrator to lead the design, delivery, and evolution of a modern hybrid infrastructure environment within a large-scale enterprise organisation.

This role will play a critical part in shaping and delivering a resilient, secure, and scalable hybrid data centre strategy, supporting both on-premises platforms and cloud adoption. The successful candidate will drive transformation from traditional infrastructure models to a cloud-native, as-a-service approach, ensuring platforms remain evergreen, highly available, and aligned to business needs.

The position requires a hands-on technical leader who can operate strategically while remaining close to delivery, working across infrastructure, security, and cloud domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve resilient hybrid data centre architectures for enterprise environments
  • Lead infrastructure transformation initiatives, transitioning from traditional to modern cloud-native principles
  • Own and develop 3–5 year infrastructure roadmaps aligned to business and technology strategy
  • Deliver and support platforms across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
  • Drive cloud adoption and integration across the organisation
  • Define and implement infrastructure governance, standards, and best practices
  • Lead migration planning and execution across data centre and cloud platforms
  • Propose and implement technical improvements to enhance performance, resilience, and security
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, and delivery teams to ensure alignment and successful outcomes
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship across infrastructure teams
  • Support operational activities including incident resolution, ticket management, and on-call rota participation
  • Engage with stakeholders across the business, providing guidance, challenge, and technical direction

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience designing and managing hybrid data centre environments
  • Strong expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation and associated technologies including NSX-T, Avi, and Tanzu
  • Proven experience with infrastructure automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and GitLab
  • Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure including Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu), VMware, HPe, and Cisco technologies
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Strong knowledge of networking including WAN, LAN, WLAN, routing, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and load balancing
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure security including IAM, PAM, Active Directory, and Entra ID
  • Experience in disaster recovery planning and implementation
  • Familiarity with enterprise-grade monitoring, alerting, and high availability environments
