Field Services Engineer
Field Service Engineer - Installation & Maintenance Technician
Field based | North, Midlands & South UK | Smart Parcel Lockers
We’re supporting a fast‐growing business rolling out a nationwide network of smart parcel lockers across the UK. As installations accelerate, they are looking to hire field‐based technicians to take ownership of on‐site site surveys, installations, commissioning, maintenance, and ongoing support of live locker units across the North, Midlands, and South.
This is a hands‐on field role for someone who enjoys working with physical, connected hardware in real‐world environments.
The role
You’ll be responsible for installing delivered locker units on site, commissioning them into service, maintaining live equipment, and resolving faults in the field. The lockers are battery and solar powered, modular, and connected via IoT technology.
This role is fully field based and does not involve building units from scratch.
What you’ll be doing
- Install parcel locker units at customer sites
- Conduct pre-installation site surveys to confirm location suitability, access, and ground conditions
- Position, secure, and commission lockers so they are live and operational
- Carry out system checks, functional testing, and go‐live sign‐off
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, or connectivity faults on site
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on live lockers
- Support firmware or product updates in the field
- Respond to escalated faults or repeat issues
- Work alongside subcontractors or delivery partners during larger regional rollouts
- Accurately document installations, maintenance activity, and fixes
- Represent the business professionally on retail, landlord, and public‐facing sites
What we’re looking for
- Experience in field service, installation, or maintenance roles involving physical and connected equipment
- Strong practical and mechanical aptitude with a logical fault‐finding approach
- Comfortable working independently in a field‐based role
- Confident working with low‐voltage, battery‐powered, or IoT‐enabled systems
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within your region
Experience with the following is desirable
- ATM field engineering
- Vending machines or kiosks
- E‐bike or e‐scooter rental fleets
- Smart lockers, access control, CCTV, parking systems, or EV charging equipment
Electrical qualifications are not essential. The lockers are battery and solar powered, operating on low‐voltage systems. Training will be provided on the specific product.
What’s provided
- Company van or mileage reimbursement
- All tools and equipment required to carry out the role
- Full product training
Why join
- Be part of a rapidly scaling UK infrastructure rollout
- Varied, hands‐on field work rather than desk‐based maintenance
- Opportunity to grow with the product and influence how it evolves in the field
