Senior RightAngle Business Analyst / SME – Oil & Products Trading

Occasional Travel to Germany

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst / RightAngle SME to join a major transformation programme within the Oil & Products trading space.

This is an initial 6-month contract based in London with hybrid working and occasional travel to Germany. The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Middle Office, Back Office, Risk, Finance and Technology teams, helping translate complex business requirements into effective functional solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with business stakeholders across Oil & Products Trading, Middle Office, Back Office, Risk, Operations and Finance.
• Lead requirements gathering through stakeholder interviews, workshops and process analysis.
• Elicit, challenge and translate business requirements into clear functional requirements and solution designs.
• Analyse existing trading processes, identify gaps and support the design of improved target-state processes.
• Provide functional expertise around ION RightAngle, including how the platform supports trading, risk, operations, settlements and finance processes.
• Act as the bridge between business stakeholders, technology teams and external implementation partners.
• Support the delivery lifecycle from initial requirements and solution design through development, testing, UAT and implementation.
• Facilitate workshops and drive decisions across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Support process mapping, gap analysis, functional documentation, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Work independently to identify issues, resolve ambiguity and ensure requirements are understood by both business and technical teams.

Required Experience

• Strong experience as a Senior Business Analyst, Functional Consultant or SME within Oil, Refined Products, Energy or Commodity Trading.
• Excellent understanding of Middle Office and Back Office trading processes.
• Experience across the trade lifecycle, including areas such as trade capture, risk/P&L, operations, scheduling, settlements, invoicing and finance.
• Strong requirements elicitation, process mapping and functional solution design experience.
• Proven ability to challenge business requirements and translate them into practical technology solutions.
• Experience working with implementation partners, developers, testers and business users throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
• Able to operate independently within a complex trading environment.

Highly Desirable

• Strong knowledge of ION RightAngle (RA) within an Oil & Products trading environment.
• Previous involvement in a RightAngle implementation, upgrade, enhancement or transformation programme.
• Understanding of RightAngle workflows and its integration with surrounding trading, risk, operational and financial systems.
• Experience working across international or European trading organisations.
