Dynamics NAV/D365 Business Central Developer - Fully Remote - Outside IR35

We are looking for an experienced Dynamics NAV/D365 Business Central Developer to support a client undertaking an upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The role will focus on custom development, extensions, data migration support, and technical remediation as part of the upgrade programme. You will work closely with the functional consultant and wider project team to modernise the existing NAV estate and deliver a stable BC solution.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and support Dynamics NAV and D365 Business Central solutions as part of a NAV - BC upgrade.
• Convert Legacy C/AL customisations into AL extensions following BC best practices.
• Develop and maintain BC extensions using AL and Visual Studio Code.
• Support data migration activities and resolve technical issues arising from Legacy NAV objects.
• Remediate and refactor custom code to ensure compatibility with Business Central SaaS.
• Develop and maintain reports (RDLC/SSRS) and document layouts.
• Support testing phases including unit testing, UAT, and go-live.
• Work with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects post-migration and during hypercare.

Experience:

• Strong hands-on development experience with:

  • Dynamics NAV (2009 - 2018)

  • Dynamics 365 Business Central

• Proven experience delivering NAV - BC upgrade projects.

• Strong knowledge of:

  • C/AL and AL development

  • Business Central extension architecture

  • Object conversion and technical upgrade tooling

• Experience with Visual Studio Code, Azure DevOps, and source control.

• Solid understanding of BC data structures and upgrade patterns.

• Experience developing reports and layouts (RDLC/Word).
