Digital Project Manager

Job summary

The Digital Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the delivery of two key technical programmes and projects, the implementation of a new unified data model across all SCFT systems and the SCFT Wayfinder integration project to support the implementation of the NHS App, ensuring that they are delivered on time, to budget and to an agreed quality that meet business needs.

Qualified with AgilePM and preferably experienced with using Prince2 methodology, the applicant will be able to evidence a wealth of project management experience and be able to join the team hitting the ground running. The role requires effective engagement with staff at all levels to identify and facilitate changes required such as role and business process redesign.

Main duties of the job

a) Assess the strategic intention, expected outcomes and critical success factors of the data model and Wayfinder projects.

b) Identify, track and ensure the project benefits are realised. Implement the relevant approach, tools and processes to ensure benefits are suitability, monitored, reported and realised.

c) Devise detailed programme and project plans, identifying key timescales, milestones and resources. Set up and manage individual workstreams that will contribute to the overall success of programmes and projects. Analyse dependences across workstreams and ensure these are addressed within individual project plans.

d) Undertake supervision and appraisals. Ensure all staff have personal development plans, opportunities for personal development and are encouraged to develop their careers in a way that is appropriate to their skills and aptitudes.

e) Take prompt and proportionate action in cases where performance, conductor attendance fall below acceptable standards. The postholder has a duty of care to ensure that employees are appropriately supported in relation health and other personal factors that may contribute to problems.

f) The postholder has authority to hear stage 1 grievances, investigate disciplinary issues and present a management case to a disciplinary panel.

g) Develop an effective team by ensuring job roles and work plans are clearly described and understood by all team members.

Job description

Job responsibilities

a) Establish project boards to monitor progress and individual project teams to take workstreams forward. Brief the project board and project teams on the Executive Teams expectations.

b) Ensure arrangements are in place for regular project board and project team meetings; co-ordinate the collation, review and monitoring of progress against project plans.

c) Support Trust staff in developing project proposals and business cases, defining project and programme benefits, and monitoring and implementing projects within a structured framework. Work with the Senior Informatics leads to develop a comprehensive project management support service.

d) Maintain up to date knowledge of good practice in programme and project management. Work with Digital leads to identify developments of relevance to Digital programmes portfolio and ensure these are implemented.

e) Develop and implement policies, procedures and guidance to ensure the effective planning and implementation of individual programmes and/or workstreams. These can range in scope from those that impact on individual services to those that have Trust-wide relevance.

f) Identify and assess risks to the achievement of intended outcomes of individual work programmes. Work with Digital & Data Leads to put plans in place to manage and mitigate those risks. Ensure risks and action plans are entered into the relevant risks registers.

g) Keep up to date with developments in local and National Health Service policy and changes to relevant legislation.

h) Act as a role model for project managers and other colleagues actively engaged in progressing work stream project plans. Provide guidance and advice on good practice in project management.

i) Benchmark the Trusts programme and project management practices and processes against other healthcare providers.

Essential
  • Experience of managing complex data-centric projects
  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the principles of project management

  • Experience delivering change programmes and can demonstrate measurable improvements

Qualifications

  • Agile Project Management Methodology - Practitioner minimum

  • PRINCE 2 Qualification
