Data Migration Delivery Lead (SQL to BigQuery)

Location: Hybrid (must be able to travel to London when required)

Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (9-12 months)

Were supporting a fast-growing cycling and lifestyle brand as they modernise their data ecosystem, migrating from an on-premise SQL database (within Nvision ERP) into a new, scalable Google Cloud BigQuery environment.

This role is critical in ensuring the successful replatforming, consolidation, and optimisation of core business data to power next-generation analytics and reporting.

Were seeking a Delivery / Product Lead with hands-on experience leading data migration or cloud data platform programmes. You will act as the key interface between internal business stakeholders, the existing BI consultant, and the external Google Cloud partner responsible for the technical execution.

You will oversee delivery governance, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility throughout the migration process. You will also manage a junior resource supporting documentation, communications, and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-end delivery of the data migration programme, from discovery and mapping through to cutover, validation, and go-live in BigQuery.
• Bridge communication between business teams, BI consultants, and the Google Cloud implementation partner, ensuring alignment of priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
• Work with commercial, finance, and BI teams to define data requirements, transformation logic, and reporting dependencies.
• Establish delivery frameworks (plans, RAID, sprint cadence, SLAs) and track progress against key milestones.
• Oversee testing, reconciliation, and quality assurance of data pipelines and reporting outputs.
• Communicate project updates, risks, and impacts to senior leadership, ensuring smooth handover into BAU analytics operations.
• Identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency across data ingestion, transformation, and reporting.

Key Experience and Skills

• Proven experience delivering large-scale data migration or data replatforming projects, ideally moving from SQL to Google Cloud or BigQuery (or equivalent, such as Snowflake or Redshift).
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including ETL/ELT, schema design, data modelling, and validation.
• Experience working with BI tools such as Power BI, Looker, or Tableau, and understanding their dependency on underlying data models.
• Experience leading external delivery partners or cloud vendors to ensure project success.
• Background in Project or Product Delivery Management within a data or analytics transformation context.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud ecosystem (BigQuery, Dataflow, dbt, Airflow) is a strong advantage.
• Experience in consumer brands, retail, or eCommerce is preferred.
