Lead Developer | C#, Azure, SaaS

Role: Lead Developer / Principal Engineer / Technical Lead

Location: Reigate, Surrey (hybrid 2 days p/w)

Salary: £90,000 to £110,000 + 30% bonus

As the Lead Developer you will drive the development and delivery of a flagship cloud-based platform (B2B SaaS). You'll be hands-on, lead technically and advise on Azure services, as well as shape their technical direction as they scale.

You'll need 2-3 years experience leading cloud development, ideally within SaaS.

What You'll Be Doing

• Technically leading the team, no line management, on the development and release of high-quality SaaS solutions, aligned with business goals and timelines
• Partner with the Product Architect on solution and systems architecture, taking high-level containers through to build
• Application and API writing / API touch points and services
• Work closely with stakeholders to define non-functional requirements and recommend robust, high-performance Azure-based solutions
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using C# and .NET Core
• Apply engineering best practices across security, performance, maintainability, and testability
• Support the team through coaching, mentoring, and unblocking technical challenges

✅ What We're Looking For

• Proven experience delivering commercial SaaS products
• Strong C# / .NET Core and Azure development background
• Experience designing and building scalable RESTful APIs
• Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle in a SaaS environment
• Solid grasp of DevOps and CI/CD practices in cloud environments
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code
• Awareness of security best practices across cloud, host, and network layers
• Comfortable collaborating with UX designers and iterating on UI requirements
• Experience mentoring engineers and a passion for people leadership
• Insurance industry knowledge is a plus
