12 month FTC
£63,000 – £72,800 + Benefits | Permanent
Drive transformation. Lead a talented team. Shape the delivery of mission-critical software at scale.
Our client is a national organisation with a clear purpose: advancing society through technology. With millions of users and complex integrations across multiple platforms, they're building a future powered by modern software and data.
Following rapid growth through acquisitions, they now operate several software verticals — each running as its own business unit but united by a strong, forward-looking technology division. It's an environment that offers real challenge, variety, and opportunity for career growth across different teams.
They're now seeking a Software Delivery Manager to take ownership of a high-profile integration platform and lead a squad of around ten people — including developers, testers, analysts, architects and a product team.
This is a chance to make a measurable difference by unblocking delivery, embedding agile ways of working, and supporting critical projects that underpin some of the UK's most important digital services.
What You'll Do
- Lead a cross-functional squad delivering complex integrations (120+ connections between core systems and third parties).
- Drive agile transformation — taking a team at ~50% maturity closer to 80% through coaching, consistency, and cultural change.
- Focus on two key delivery outcomes: velocity (more work completed, faster) and cycle time (shorter time from start to finish).
- Identify and remove blockers across the lifecycle — from requirements and testing through to environments and third-party dependencies.
- Play a visible leadership role in shaping delivery culture, sitting on the divisional leadership team.
- Oversee critical projects such as replacing legacy systems that support training for 45,000 external associates each year.
About You
- A proven delivery leader: proactive, quick-thinking, engaging, and able to energise those around you.
- Strong background in software delivery, with solid understanding of testing, requirements, architecture, and environments.
- Hands-on experience with Agile approaches (Scrum, Kanban, hybrids) — not just in theory, but with real examples of improving team performance.
- Technically aware, with the ability to challenge, unblock, and guide teams across the SDLC.
- Comfortable managing offshore development teams.
- Naturally curious, resilient, and passionate about finding new ways to deliver value faster.
Why Join?
- Impact – Work on technology that underpins services relied on by millions.
- Variety – Opportunity to move sideways into other verticals as the organisation grows.
- Challenge – Deliver complex integrations and transformation projects in a high-stakes, regulated environment.
- Progression – Be part of a large, ambitious technology division where strong performers are recognised and promoted.
The Package
- Salary: £63,000 – £72,800 DOE
- Manchester-based, 2 days per week in office
- Generous holiday allowance + pension + healthcare + additional wellbeing benefits
