Lead Java Architect – Greenfield Digital Asset Platform (12 Month Extendable Contract Inside IR35 - mostly remote - City of London)

Are you a hands-on Architect with a "builder" mindset, ready to lead the development of a ground-breaking FinTech platform from the ground up?

We are seeking an exceptional Lead Java Architect to spearhead a speculative, greenfield project aimed at revolutionising the post-trade landscape. You will be instrumental in designing and building a new distributed ledger-based solution that leverages tokenization to streamline the clearing and settlement of financial assets.

This is a unique opportunity for a leader who thrives on coding, prototyping, and building alongside a team, rather than delegating from the sidelines. You will take a novel concept and drive its development from initial architecture through to a minimum viable product (MVP).

What you'll bring to the table:

• Proven "Builder" Experience: A demonstrable history of architecting and building complex, greenfield systems from concept to a fully deployed product.
• Expert-Level Java Architecture: Deep expertise within the JVM ecosystem, with extensive experience using modern frameworks like Spring Boot to build robust microservices and a strong grasp of enterprise patterns (e.g., event-driven architecture).
• Financial Domain Knowledge: A solid understanding of capital markets and post-trade processes, including clearing, settlement, and reconciliation.
• Technical Breadth: Significant experience with distributed systems, cryptography, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• An Entrepreneurial Spirit: You are comfortable with ambiguity and possess the drive to navigate technical challenges and prove the viability of a new solution.

Bonus points if you have:

Experience with Blockchain technology.

Prior experience on a digital payments or financial market infrastructure project.
