Project Management Officer (Birmingham or Sheffield)
Synechron is looking for an experienced PMO to join our team working with a well known global bank. This pivotal role involves supporting strategic technology programmes aimed at enhancing developer workflows, integrating AI solutions, and delivering innovative platform capabilities across the bank’s operations. You will ensure effective governance, benefits realisation, and risk management across multiple complex initiatives.
As a Senior PMO, you will partner with programme delivery teams, technical leads, and senior stakeholders to oversee the governance and assurance of technology programmes. Your expertise in banking, platforms technology, and AI-driven change will enable you to facilitate successful delivery, optimise operational efficiencies, and support strategic transformation.
Role:
- Establish and maintain programme governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and policies
- Support project and programme delivery teams by providing guidance on scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Track programme progress, financials, benefits, and risks; produce detailed reports and dashboards for senior management
- Facilitate programme planning, issue resolution, and escalations to keep initiatives on track
- Coordinate and support the preparation of business cases, change controls, and regulatory documentation
- Drive benefits management, ensuring value realisation aligns with business objectives
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure proper documentation, including declarations, roadmaps, and compliance
- Liaise with risk, audit, and control functions, ensuring adherence to regulatory and security standards
- Lead and coordinate cross-programme dependencies and interlocks
- Promote best practices in project and programme management, continuous improvement, and agile methodologies
Experience:
- Extensive experience in PMO within the banking or financial services sector
- Strong understanding of platforms technology, cloud solutions, and modern software development practices
- Proven track record supporting large-scale technology transformation projects, especially those involving developer experience optimizations and AI integration
- In-depth knowledge of banking operations, risk management, regulatory requirements, and security protocols
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across diverse levels of an organisation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and deliver high-quality outputs
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities
- Relevant certifications such as MSP, PgMP, P30, or PMI-ACP are highly desirable
Long term contract inside IR35 - x3 days in Birmingham or Sheffield office - Strong market rates
