Senior Java/ Scala Developer
Synechron is looking for a talented Senior Lead Engineer to join our team and lead (whilst being hands on) the development of a complex, ground-up, cloud-native system designed to power critical financial markets.
This innovative initiative involves creating a robust, scalable platform to support real-time market data, trading, and risk management solutions. You will be instrumental in designing a high-performance, resilient infrastructure that adheres to industry best practices and regulatory standards. This is a unique opportunity to work on a transformative project in the financial technology space, impacting how markets operate globally
Role:
- Lead the design and development of microservices in an event-driven architecture
- Build and optimise scalable REST APIs and enterprise-grade applications
- Work with cloud platforms like AWS (S3, Aurora, MSK, IAM) and container tools like Docker and Kubernetes
- Take ownership of solutions from conception through deployment, ensuring high quality and resilience
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative features in an agile environment
- Promote engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, and operational excellence
Experience:
Advanced Java/Scala
- Strong experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Advanced knowledge of Java 21+ features and practical experience with Spring Boot
- Some Scala knowledge
- Skilled in developing RESTful services, including REST design principles, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Spring REST MVC
- Proficient in building and delivering enterprise-grade Java applications
- Hands-on experience with data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and multi-threading
Database Management
- Strong SQL knowledge with experience in relational databases such as Postgres
- Working knowledge of object storage solutions, e.g., AWS S3
- Familiarity with database version control tools like Flyway and Liquibase
Cloud Architecture
- Experience working with major public cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Hands-on use of cloud-based services such as AWS Aurora, MSK, S3, and IAM
- Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts
Long term rolling contract - Strong market rates inside IR35 - Hybrid working x3 days a week in London office
