Lead/Senior Data Engineer (SC Cleared)

Location: London (Hybrid - 2-3 days per week on site)
Duration: ASAP start until end of March 2027
Rate: £500-£575per day - Outside IR35
Clearance: Active SC clearance required

The Role

Synergetic are looking for Lead and Senior Data Engineers to join a data platform team. You'll build the tools, services and pipelines that give analysts and data scientists timely, consistent, auditable and reproducible access to data.

This is a hands-on engineering role on a modern AWS data stack. It suits contractors who care about doing data engineering properly: tested, version-controlled, automated and deployed as code.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable, automated data pipelines using best-practice processing patterns
• Turn raw data sources into usable, well-modelled datasets with dbt
• Deploy AWS cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code
• Build tools and services that help people use data effectively
• Work directly with data users to understand and meet their needs
• Lead data projects and manage stakeholders

Essential Skills

• Active SC clearance
• Strong Python and SQL
• Data modelling with dbt
• Orchestration with Airflow
• AWS data services, including S3, Athena and Glue
• Infrastructure as code on AWS
• Version control with Git
• Automated testing (eg pytest)
• Proven record of designing and building production data pipelines

Desirable Skills

• Spark
• Kubernetes and container-based workflows
• CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions
• Experience leading data projects and managing stakeholders (essential for lead-level applicants)
