Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Developer to support the design, development and enhancement of modern web applications within an AWS environment. The role will focus on building production-grade Python applications, Back End services, Middleware and APIs, working across the wider application architecture.

This is an application and software engineering role rather than a data science or analytics-focused Python role.

The Role

You will:

• Design, develop and maintain production-grade Python applications and services.

• Build Back End and Middleware components, including REST APIs, business logic and integrations.

• Develop secure, scalable and maintainable application components.

• Integrate Python applications with databases, external services and enterprise systems.

• Support integration between Front End applications, Middleware and Back End services.

• Build and deploy application components within AWS.

• Develop automated unit and component tests.

• Troubleshoot application, integration and performance issues.

• Apply good software engineering practices including code reviews, documentation and security standards.

• Use Git and CI/CD practices to support development and deployment.

• Work closely with Architects, Developers, Testers, Product teams and other technical stakeholders.

Essential Experience

• Extensive commercial Python application development experience.

• Experience building production-grade Python applications and services.

• Experience developing web applications, Back End services and Middleware.

• Strong REST API development and integration experience.

• Good understanding of application architecture, including Front End, Middleware, Back End services and databases.

• Strong AWS development and deployment experience.

• Experience with application and API security, including authentication and authorisation.

• Strong software engineering and object-oriented development experience.

• Experience with automated unit and component testing.

• Experience with Git and CI/CD.

• Valid SC Clearance is mandatory
