Blockchain Architect (banking)

We're looking for an experienced Blockchain Architect to join a major enterprise technology transformation programme within a highly regulated financial services environment.

This is a hands-on architecture role where you'll lead the design, development and delivery of enterprise-grade blockchain solutions, working closely with cloud, data and DevOps teams to deliver secure, scalable distributed ledger platforms supporting innovative digital and AI-driven initiatives.

The Role

You'll take ownership of the end-to-end architecture and technical delivery of blockchain solutions, helping shape platforms from initial concept and Proof of Concept through to production deployment.

This role combines strategic architecture with hands-on engineering and offers the opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-scale transformation programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of enterprise blockchain solutions
• Evaluate and recommend blockchain platforms including Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, Polygon and Avalanche
• Design node architecture, integration patterns, APIs and enterprise data flows
• Define smart contract, tokenisation and digital identity architectures
• Contribute hands-on to smart contract and blockchain application development
• Build Proof of Concepts and production-ready blockchain solutions
• Design secure integrations with enterprise platforms and Legacy systems
• Ensure scalability, resilience and performance across distributed systems
• Implement blockchain security, cryptography and key management best practices
• Define governance, identity and access management models
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and data privacy requirements
• Collaborate with Cloud, DevOps, Security and Data Engineering teams throughout delivery

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a Blockchain Architect or Senior Blockchain Engineer
• Strong hands-on experience with enterprise blockchain platforms including Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, Corda or similar
• Smart contract development using Solidity, Chaincode, DAML or Rust
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, Go or Rust
• Experience designing distributed systems and API-led architectures
• Cloud platform experience across Azure, AWS or GCP
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of blockchain security, cryptography and enterprise governance
• Experience delivering enterprise solutions within regulated environments

Experience Required

• 8+ years in Software Engineering or Solution Architecture
• 3+ years delivering enterprise blockchain solutions
• Experience taking solutions from design through to production deployment
