Synergize Consulting is supporting our client in the search for an experienced Oracle APEX Subject Matter Expert to undertake a critical discovery exercise ahead of the migration and upgrade of a business-critical Oracle APEX estate.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Oracle APEX Developer/Administrator with Oracle DBA expertise to play a key role in assessing the current environment, documenting the existing platform, and helping lay the foundations for a future migration to a supported Oracle APEX environment.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must hold current SC Clearance and be eligible to work on UK MOD projects.

The Role

Working alongside the client's Oracle Administrator, you will review the existing production environment and a recently established Proof of Concept (PoC) environment, gathering technical information and producing a comprehensive discovery report.

You'll be expected to lead technical discussions, challenge where appropriate, and document the current estate to support future migration planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct a detailed discovery of the existing Oracle APEX environments.
• Review and document both the live and PoC environments.
• Assess Oracle APEX applications, databases and infrastructure.
• Document operating systems, versions, licensing and environment configurations.
• Capture application inventory, developers and user populations.
• Review database schemas, security, access controls and user administration.
• Assess backup, recovery and disaster recovery arrangements.
• Review available technical documentation and identify any gaps.
• Produce clear technical documentation to support future migration and upgrade activities.
• Work collaboratively with the client's Oracle Administrator and wider technical team.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with Oracle APEX Development and Administration.
• Solid Oracle Database Administration (DBA) experience.
• Experience documenting complex Oracle environments.
• Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and schema design.
• Experience supporting or delivering Oracle APEX upgrades or migrations.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to lead discovery workshops and extract technical information from SMEs.
• Active SC Clearance.

Desirable

• Previous MOD or Defence sector experience.
• Experience of Oracle APEX platform migrations.
• Knowledge of Oracle licensing and infrastructure.
• Experience producing technical discovery and assessment reports.

Location

• Hampshire
• Ideally 2-3 days per week onsite during the discovery phase (flexibility available).
• Remote working may be possible for the duration, subject to client approval.
