Principal Systems Engineer

We are working with a defence company that is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join their team in Hampshire, leading cutting-edge simulation system development across the full engineering life cycle.

Permanent role - Hybrid & Flexible Working Available

The role

• Providing hands-on technical leadership to a team of systems and software engineers, supporting the Product System Design Authority

• Applying Systems Engineering principles to develop software-based Simulation Systems from concept to delivery

• Designing Simulation Systems equipment, networks, and software solutions

• Leading requirements decomposition and managing specifications using tools such as IBM DOORS Next

• Directing architectural modelling and defining interfaces using CATIA Magic (Cameo)

• Driving system integration activities and acceptance strategies for software-based systems

• Leading technical reviews and ensuring compliance with customer, legislative, and business requirements

Skills required:

• Strong experience applying Systems Engineering principles to software-based products

• Expertise in Systems Engineering and Software Integration life cycle principles (ISO 15288 & 12207)

• Background in requirements management

• Familiarity with engineering life cycle models (Waterfall & Agile) and tools such as JIRA

• Solid background in software development and system integration

• Software/Simulation

• Proven technical leadership capability, able to guide cross-discipline teams and shape design solutions
