SC Cleared AWS DevOps Engineer (Testing/API Focus)

We are supporting a major national programme delivering critical digital capabilities within the Defence sector and are looking for a highly skilled AWS DevOps Engineer with a strong background in testing, particularly API testing.

This role sits within an Agile delivery team responsible for building and maintaining secure DevOps environments supporting mission-critical systems. The successful candidate will help develop and structure a comprehensive automated testing framework within a multi-account AWS environment, ensuring quality, security and reliability across the platform.

Due to the nature of the programme, the successful candidate will have a valid SC Clearance before a start.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop automated test frameworks across DevOps pipelines

• Lead API testing strategies to ensure reliability and performance

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines within AWS environments

• Implement development, testing and automation tooling across the platform

• Configure and maintain DevOps infrastructure within AWS multi-account environments

• Monitor and manage processes across the full software development life cycle

• Review and validate software code to ensure quality and performance

• Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis and bug fixing

• Implement and maintain security controls, vulnerability assessments and risk management practices

• Coordinate with stakeholders and development teams to deliver against customer requirements and KPIs

• Maintain project documentation using Confluence and manage workstreams via Jira

• Support incident management and continuous platform improvement

• Mentor team members and contribute to DevOps best practices

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong AWS DevOps engineering experience

• Proven experience in software testing within DevOps environments

• Strong API testing experience

• Experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks

• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines

• Knowledge of AWS multi-account architectures

• Experience working within Agile delivery teams

• Experience using Jira and Confluence

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

Desirable Skills

• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices

• Experience with infrastructure automation tools

• Knowledge of security frameworks and vulnerability management

• Experience supporting large-scale national or defence programmes
