Senior Content Designer - UX/User-Centred Design | BPSS | Hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Content Designer to support the development of new public-sector digital services. You will create clear, accessible and user-friendly content that helps people understand complex information and complete online transactions with confidence.

Working within an Agile delivery environment, you will collaborate with UX/UI Designers, User Researchers, Product Managers, Business Analysts and other stakeholders to ensure content meets user needs and delivers a positive digital experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead content design activities across digital services.

• Research subject matter and engage with stakeholders and subject-matter experts.

• Translate complex language, processes and requirements into clear, simple content.

• Draft content that supports UX designs and helps users complete online transactions.

• Collaborate with User Researchers to test content and assess user understanding.

• Use research findings, user feedback and performance metrics to refine and improve content.

• Select appropriate formats and presentation methods to meet different user needs.

• Build effective working relationships with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.

• Iterate content throughout the design and delivery process to improve usability and accessibility.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Content Designer within a digital or online environment.

• Strong web-writing skills, producing clear, accessible and usable content.

• Experience applying user-centred design principles to content development.

• Experience using user research, feedback and metrics to evaluate and improve content.

• Ability to simplify complex information for a broad audience, including users with lower levels of digital confidence.

• Experience collaborating with UX/UI Designers, User Researchers, Product Managers and Business Analysts.

• Experience with content management and publishing systems.

• Proficiency in Markdown.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.

• BPSS clearance.

Desirable Experience

• Knowledge of public-sector services and business processes.

• Familiarity with CESA.

• Experience designing content for transactional government digital services.

• Experience working in multidisciplinary Agile delivery teams.
