A leading Defence prime are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join a Government end client project. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in Software Engineering and has moved into a lead/principle/engineering manager role and is comfortable leading a team, managing technical direction and overseeing the test/development and platform engineers.

• Leading a team of experienced engineers in a high-trust environment
• Making architectural and technical decisions that have real-world impact
• Working on systems where security, reliability, and performance truly matter
• Collaborating with stakeholders who understand the importance of getting it right

What we’re looking for:

• Active security clearance (essential)
• Strong experience leading engineering teams and/or technical delivery – Ideally leading/managing developers across multiple development languages
• Hands on development background
• A pragmatic mindset, you know when to be precise and when to move fast
• Confident working in environments where detail and accountability matter
