Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Compute / VMware) | Financial Services
Are you a highly experienced Compute Engineer looking to play a pivotal role in supporting mission-critical financial systems?
We’re seeking a seasoned professional with 10+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and optimising enterprise compute environments — ideally within financial institutions or other highly regulated sectors.
This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team responsible for the scalability, performance, and resilience of critical infrastructure that underpins core financial applications.
Rate c.£500 - £550pd
Duration - 6 months rolling (Long term)
Location - London (2-3 days in office)
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, implement and optimise high-performance compute environments
- Ensure scalability, resilience and maximum uptime of mission-critical systems
- Lead performance tuning, resource optimisation and capacity planning initiatives
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues with minimal disruption
- Integrate strong security controls to protect sensitive financial data
- Collaborate closely with network, storage, system administration and development teams
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure certification/compliance standards are met
- Drive cost-effective infrastructure solutions aligned with business growth
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers

- PowerShell & PowerCLI
- Active Directory (working knowledge)
- Strong understanding of networking and storage integration
- Experience within financial services or other regulated environments highly desirable
