Cyber Security Analyst

The Cyber Security Technology function supports a number of technologies and services across a globally dispersed team. This includes Data Loss Prevention, Security Infrastructure, and Vulnerability Management. These collective teams assure critical functions and billions of pounds worth of transactions across the organisation. The Analyst - Cyber Security supports the Data Security and Service Delivery functions, focusing on the implementation, operationalisation, and continuous improvement of data security controls, automation of compliance processes, and enhancement of service delivery practices. The role ensures sensitive data is protected in line with regulatory and internal standards, and that service delivery processes are efficient, effective, and continually improving.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data.
  • Leverage advanced data analytics to assess the effectiveness of existing controls, identify emerging risks, and recommend data-driven mitigation strategies. Present findings using statistical models and visualisations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support the design, operationalisation, and ongoing management of Key Control Indicators (KCIs).
  • Partner with metrics and automation teams to develop dashboards and automate processes, reducing manual effort.
  • Engage with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) owners and architects to document and assess data protection capabilities, identifying gaps and opportunities for control maturity.
  • Review and propose improvements to Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, ensuring alignment with current risks and business needs while minimising business impact and operational disruption.
  • Investigate DLP incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and share findings and recommendations with stakeholders.
  • Utilise a range of analytical tools (eg, Splunk, Python, SQL, Power BI) to extract, manipulate, and interpret large datasets.
  • Review and enhance service delivery processes using process improvement methodologies.
  • Contribute to Service Excellence Initiatives, identifying and implementing opportunities for process optimisation and improved customer outcomes.

Essential Skills

  • Good understanding knowledge of Cybersecurity principles, technologies and best practices.
  • Basic understanding in performing risk assessments with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesise complex information, identify patterns, and communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of encryption and masking controls for data at rest and in motion.
  • Exposure to process automation and requirements gathering.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, preferably using widely available toolsets such as spreadsheets.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
