- Use testing equipment, including the person and VEX testers, to support fault diagnosis.
- Inspect and clean fibre connections in line with documented procedures.
- Follow established data centre processes and escalation procedures at all times.
- Escalate complex or non-standard issues to the appropriate onsite resource promptly.
- Work under supervision while collaborating closely with the wider data centre team.
- Accurately follow documented procedures to ensure consistent and reliable ticket resolution.
- Focus on troubleshooting existing cabling and connectivity rather than installing or running new cabling.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and a methodical approach throughout all fault-finding activities.
Essential Skills
- Proven, hands-on experience working in data centre environments.
- Working knowledge of networking concepts and physical network infrastructure.
- experience troubleshooting Layer 1 connectivity issues in a structured way.
- Good understanding of fibre connectivity and related components.
- experience working within structured, process-driven operational environments.
- Confidence in following detailed runbooks and troubleshooting workflows.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to fault finding.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an onsite team under supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience using the person testing equipment.
- experience working with VEX fibre testing tools.
- Previous experience inspecting, cleaning and reseating fibre connections.
- experience within large-scale or enterprise data centre environments.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and data centre support workflows.
- Exposure to cloud or large-scale infrastructure environments.
