Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Junior Architect to design and deliver cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure with a focus on cutting-edge technologies. This role involves collaborating with lead architects and engineering teams to build secure and scalable platforms, laying the groundwork for future AI-enabled capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement Azure-based microservices and platform components.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Azure DevOps, enforcing quality, security, and observability standards.
- Perform complex software development and code reviews, mentoring developers on best practices.
- Model, process, and optimise data flows while collaborating across data engineering to ensure reliability and performance.
- Document architectures and promotion paths, supporting production readiness and incident prevention.
- Learn and modernise Legacy technologies as needed, adapting to in-house platforms and toolsets.
- Advocate for AI awareness and contribute to shaping a platform that supports future AI use, focusing on data readiness, services, and governance.
Essential Skills
- 10+ years total software engineering within Java.
- Strong data skills including modelling, pipelines, performance tuning, SQL/NoSQL, and familiarity with data governance.
- Expertise in software development within the Spring ecosystem, including designing, developing, and reviewing complex code.
- Proficiency in microservices architecture, designing, implementing, and maintaining distributed systems and services.
- Containers and Kubernetes (AKS), Git workflows, and DevSecOps practices.
- Clear communication, documentation, and collaboration skills in Agile environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Willingness to learn Legacy stacks and flexibility to work within internal frameworks and toolchains.
- Cosmos DB is a plus.
- Working in large-scale data migration projects is a plus.
