We're seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery and operational launch of a new enterprise Linux hosting service built on IBM LinuxONE.

This is not a traditional PM role focused purely on server deployment. You'll be responsible for establishing a fully supported, production-ready Linux platform, bringing together Mainframe, Linux, networking, storage, security, and service management teams to create a service that application teams can confidently consume.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical credibility with proven project leadership, ensuring ownership models, operational processes, support

structures, and service readiness are fully defined before go-live.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of an enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) service on IBM LinuxONE.
• Define the service offering, including supported operating system versions, availability tiers, environment strategy, and workload suitability.
• Coordinate infrastructure architecture across Linux, IBM Z/LinuxONE, networking, storage, security, monitoring, and automation teams.
• Establish clear accountability for provisioning, patching, monitoring, backup, recovery, and operational support activities.
• Validate workload and application readiness for IBM Z (s390x) environments, ensuring compatibility and supportability.
• Drive pilot deployments to prove provisioning processes, performance, resilience, recovery procedures, and support models.
• Manage production readiness activities and secure operational acceptance from all stakeholders.
• Deliver service onboarding processes, support documentation, operational runbooks, and service catalogue content.
• Own programme governance, planning, risks, issues, dependencies, budgets, and stakeholder communications across multiple infrastructure teams.

Essential Experience

• Proven Experience delivering Linux services on IBM LinuxONE and/or IBM Z platforms.
• Strong understanding of LinuxONE architecture, including LPARs, IFL capacity management, resilience concepts, and virtualisation technologies such as z/VM or KVM.
• Enterprise-level Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Experience, including platform provisioning, patching, hardening, monitoring, backup, automation, and operational support.
• Experience delivering complex infrastructure services involving multiple technical domains and stakeholder groups.
• Strong knowledge of service introduction, operational acceptance, service catalogue development, SLAs, disaster recovery, and support model design.
• Demonstrable Experience leading large-scale infrastructure programmes with ownership of project plans, RAID management, governance, budgets, and supplier coordination.
• Ability to engage credibly with both technical engineering teams and senior business stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working within IBM Z or Mainframe environments.
• Familiarity with enterprise automation and infrastructure life cycle management practices.
• Exposure to service management frameworks such as ITIL.
• Experience leading platform transformation, modernisation, or new service introduction initiatives.

• Agreed architecture, operating model, and responsibility Matrix.
• Capacity, licensing, and cost-management frameworks.
• Provisioning and life cycle-management processes.
• Security, backup, resilience, and disaster recovery sign-off.
• Operational support runbooks and service catalogue documentation.
• Pilot outcomes and production go-live approvals.

Candidate Profile

This opportunity is ideally suited to a senior Infrastructure Project Manager who has successfully delivered Linux hosting services on IBM LinuxONE or IBM Z platforms.

You'll be technically astute without necessarily being a hands-on engineer, capable of challenging assumptions, resolving ownership gaps, and driving alignment across complex infrastructure and operations teams.
