Job Description
This role leads the implementation and optimisation of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solution as part of a global rollout of POMSNET Aquila. You will support an in-flight programme delivering a standardised MES platform across multiple international manufacturing sites.
Working remotely from Europe, you will provide technical leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive digital manufacturing excellence in a complex, highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design, configuration and integration of POMSNET Aquila MES applications across multiple manufacturing modalities and sites.
- Plan and execute comprehensive testing of MES solutions, including functional, integration and user acceptance testing, to ensure robust and reliable system performance.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve MES documentation, including best practices, playbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to MES engineers and wider collaborators, fostering knowledge sharing and consistent implementation standards.
- Analyse manufacturing processes and operational data to identify opportunities for MES-driven process improvement, automation and harmonisation across sites.
- Ensure all MES engineering activities comply with cGMP, relevant regulatory requirements and established internal ways of working.
- Contribute to governance frameworks and technical documentation for MES solutions, ensuring clear traceability and alignment with global standards.
- Design and deliver training content, including train-the-trainer materials, to support effective adoption and use of POMSNET Aquila across global sites.
- Support the delivery of new MES instances through the development, configuration and deployment of Global Recipe Templates.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders in IT, OT, manufacturing and quality to align MES solutions with business and regulatory needs.
- Participate in hypercare activities following go-live, providing on-site and remote support to resolve issues and stabilise MES operations.
Essential Skills
- Proven hands-on experience with POMSNET Aquila, including configuration, deployment and support in production environments.
- Demonstrable experience acting in a senior or lead capacity on MES or similar digital manufacturing projects.
- experience working within healthcare, life sciences or comparable highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of digital manufacturing concepts and MES technology operation, including workflows, recipes and electronic batch records.
- Solid knowledge of enterprise IT/OT integration, including connectivity between MES, ERP, automation systems and related platforms.
- experience in process improvement and system analysis within multi-site or global environments.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, including specifications, SOPs and training materials.
- Working knowledge of cGMP and pharmaceutical regulatory standards, with a strong focus on quality and compliance.
- Ability to train and mentor junior staff and contribute actively to knowledge sharing across a distributed network.
- Hands-on experience with POMS, POMSNET or related MES technologies.

- Comfortable working within structured project environments, including adherence to defined methodologies and documentation standards.
