Software Engineer
Full Stack Software Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the technical discovery and initial build of a new RFP (Request for Proposal) Automation platform. This is a high-impact role at the very start of a strategic initiative aimed at transforming a heavily manual, document-driven procurement process into a modern, automated, and scalable solution.
You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of the platform-evaluating solution options, validating architectural approaches, and creating early prototypes-while remaining hands-on from day one.
A strong understanding of procurement processes and RFP life cycle concepts is important for success in this role, as the solution will sit at the heart of a complex procurement ecosystem.
The Challenge
Today, the RFP process relies heavily on disconnected documents and spreadsheets, resulting in:
- High administrative burden
- Repetitive manual content creation
- Limited workflow control, visibility, or tracking
- Minimal integration with existing procurement and enterprise systems
- A fragmented journey spanning RFP creation, distribution, evaluation, selection, and onboarding into procurement platforms
- This role will help define and deliver a next-generation RFP automation solution that simplifies and standardizes this life cycle.
What You'll Be Working On - Discovery & Solution Definition
- Analyze and map existing RFP and procurement workflows to identify automation opportunities
- Apply procurement domain knowledge to ensure solutions align with real-world sourcing and vendor selection processes
- Explore and compare solution approaches (SaaS, custom build, hybrid models)
- Assess integration requirements with procurement, ERP, and content management systems
- Build prototypes or proof-of-concepts to validate technical direction
- Recommend a scalable, secure architecture
- Define the early technical roadmap, backlog, and solution design artefacts
Early Execution
- Contribute hands-on engineering as prototypes evolve into early-stage solutions
- Design and implement workflow automation, document generation, and system integrations
- Support AI-driven document processing (generation, extraction, ingestion)
- Apply strong engineering governance, quality standards, and documentation practices
- Work closely with product managers, architects, and globally distributed engineering teams
What You'll Bring - Essential
- Strong experience as a software engineer working across applications and services
- Proven ability to lead technical discovery and shape early-stage solutions
Solid understanding of:
- API development and system integrations
- Workflow engines and automation patterns
- Modern application architectures (eg microservices)
- Hands-on experience building prototypes and validating technical options
- Ability to clearly articulate technical trade-offs and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Procurement & Domain Knowledge (Important)
- Understanding of procurement and sourcing processes, particularly the RFP life cycle
- Awareness of how RFPs are created, distributed, evaluated, and transitioned into downstream procurement platforms
- experience working with, or integrating into, procurement or ERP systems (eg SAP, Ariba, Coupa or similar) is highly beneficial
Nice to Have
- experience with AI-powered document processing or content automation
- Cloud-native development experience (GCP preferred, but not required)
- experience working across globally distributed teams and time zones
