Associate Director – ICT & Structured Cabling

This role sits within an established consultancy known for delivering ICT and structured cabling design across large-scale infrastructure projects, with a strong reputation in data centre environments.

Due to continued growth within the commercial sector, the business is expanding its capability across corporate workplace and office fit-out projects, particularly within financial and professional services clients.

The Associate Director will play a key role in leading this area, focusing primarily on commercial office environments while also supporting selected data centre projects where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of structured cabling and ICT infrastructure design across multiple projects, with a primary focus on commercial office fit-outs and corporate environments
  • Provide technical oversight of fibre and copper cabling systems, including backbone design, horizontal distribution, containment, and comms room layouts
  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, ensuring consistent delivery across all stages from concept design through to installation, testing, and handover
  • Oversee project programmes and resource planning to ensure delivery is aligned with client expectations, timelines, and quality standards
  • Maintain accountability for project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and overall cost control across multiple projects
  • Act as a senior client interface, particularly with financial and corporate organisations, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and delivered
  • Lead client and stakeholder meetings, providing updates on progress, risks, and technical solutions
  • Review, validate, and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and project objectives
  • Provide guidance on installation methodologies, testing procedures, and commissioning processes to ensure successful delivery through to completion
  • Ensure effective coordination between ICT infrastructure and wider building systems such as MEP, AV, and smart building technologies
  • Make key decisions relating to design, delivery strategy, and technical solutions throughout the project lifecycle
  • Mentor and support team members, contributing to overall team performance and development
  • Represent the business in client engagements and industry-related activities where required
  • Ensure all work is delivered in line with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards

Experience & Skills Required

  • Strong experience delivering structured cabling and ICT infrastructure projects, particularly within commercial office fit-out environments
  • Background working with corporate or financial clients, with an understanding of high-spec workplace requirements
  • Proven ability to manage projects across the full lifecycle, from design through to installation and handover
  • In-depth knowledge of fibre and copper cabling systems and associated infrastructure
  • Experience leading teams and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of construction environments, including health and safety requirements
  • Ability to review and validate technical designs and ensure compliance with relevant standards
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both clients and technical teams
  • Experience producing and reviewing technical documentation and specifications
  • Detail-oriented with a practical and solutions-focused approach
  • Comfortable working in a flexible or remote environment

Desirable

  • Industry certifications related to structured cabling or ICT infrastructure
  • Experience working with CAD or BIM design tools
  • Knowledge of wireless, telephony, and in-building mobile systems
  • Exposure to smart building technologies including security, AV, and integrated systems
  • Experience supporting or contributing to data centre projects
