About the Role
One of our clients who are an exciting start-up company within the data centre space are seeking an experienced Director of Procurement to join a leading Design & Build organisation delivering mission-critical data centre projects across the UK and Europe.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven procurement professional with extensive experience sourcing materials, equipment, and specialist subcontractors for hyperscale and enterprise data centre developments.
The successful candidate will take ownership of supplier relationships, team (you will be involved in hiring), procurement strategy, contract negotiations, and supply chain performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies across multiple data centre construction projects.
- Source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage suppliers of data centre equipment and construction materials.
- Procure long lead-time items including electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and specialist subcontractors.
- Lead commercial negotiations to achieve the best pricing, quality, delivery schedules, and contractual terms.
- Manage RFQs, tenders, supplier evaluations, and contract awards.
- Monitor supplier performance including delivery, quality, cost, and compliance KPIs.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Design Engineers, Commercial Teams, and Site Management to forecast procurement requirements.
- Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies for critical project components.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and industry standards.
- Manage budgets and deliver measurable cost savings without compromising quality or programme delivery.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, and reporting documentation.
- Support value engineering initiatives by identifying alternative products and suppliers.

Required Experience
- Proven procurement experience within Data Centre Design & Build, Mission Critical, MEP, or Major Construction projects.
- Strong understanding of the complete procurement lifecycle.
- Experience managing multiple suppliers across complex construction projects.
- Demonstrable success negotiating high-value supplier agreements.
- Knowledge of supply chain management within live or new-build data centres.
- Experience working alongside commercial, engineering, and project delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and procurement best practices.
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Construction, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying (preferred).
- CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using ERP or procurement management systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong negotiation and influencing abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
