We are looking for an experienced Network Designer to join one of our well established data centre specialists. The role involves designing, implementing, and optimising enterprise networks, including both wired and wireless infrastructures, to support a range of applications and services.
You will work closely with internal teams and clients to produce high-quality network designs, detailed technical proposals, and documentation. The role also involves conducting site surveys, pre-staging and configuring network equipment, and providing operational support during implementations.
What you'll do:
- Design Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Plan and design wireless networks, including access and backhaul technologies.
- Conduct site surveys and produce detailed design documentation.
- Collaborate with account managers, project teams, and suppliers to deliver network solutions.
- Support operational teams with queries and solutions related to network implementation.
- Ensure designs meet current standards and best practices, while considering scalability and performance.
What we're looking for:
- Strong experience designing enterprise network architectures (LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls).
- Knowledge of wireless network design and structured cabling systems.
- Understanding of Layer 2/3 protocols, VLANs, QoS, DHCP, DNS, Radius, TACACS, SNMP, and TCP/IP.
- Experience with network design tools, such as MS Visio, and producing professional documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused approach.
- Flexibility to work at client sites as needed and a valid UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba/HP networking equipment.
- Experience in intelligent building technologies such as IP security, HVAC, and energy management systems.
- CSCS/ECS card or equivalent.
