Project Planner – Data Centre & Infrastructure

A growing international technology infrastructure organisation is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Planner to support the delivery of structured cabling, network infrastructure and data centre projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with project management, design, engineering, commercial and site teams to develop and maintain project programmes, ensuring activities are properly planned, resourced and delivered on time and within scope.

This is an opportunity to join a developing planning function and help shape how project planning supports large-scale infrastructure projects across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes for data cabling and infrastructure installations.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Managers, clients and other stakeholders to define scope, timelines and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate project resources, labour, materials and activities against agreed programmes.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and delays, and support mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Support project readiness and ensure key activities are captured within the programme.
  • Coordinate procurement and material call-off schedules to support critical project milestones.
  • Attend project kick-off meetings, site visits and planning meetings.
  • Interpret technical drawings, floor plans and project documentation.
  • Support planning for extensions of time, compressed programmes and programme changes.
  • Monitor project hours, costs and trends to support forecasting.
  • Evaluate scope changes, additional works and associated programme impacts.
  • Support tendering and pre-construction planning activities.
  • Coordinate project programmes with design, estimating, commercial and delivery teams.
  • Maintain accurate planning documentation, reports and project records.
  • Ensure programmes align with relevant health & safety, contractual and client requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining delivery priorities.

Essential

  • Previous experience working as a Project Planner, Planner or similar planning role.
  • Experience within construction, infrastructure, data centres, telecommunications, ICT or structured cabling.
  • Strong understanding of project planning and programme management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining detailed project programmes.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or similar planning software.
  • Experience coordinating labour, resources, materials and project activities.
  • Understanding of commercial and contractual interfaces with project planning.
  • Experience monitoring project progress, risks, costs and forecasts.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Project.

Desirable

  • Experience specifically planning structured cabling or data centre infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supporting tendering and pre-construction planning.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure installation methodologies.
  • Experience with procurement and material call-off planning.
  • ECS, BICSI, CNCI or equivalent industry certification.
  • Experience working with commercial teams on programme impacts, variations or extensions of time.

Working Requirements

  • Willingness to attend customer and project sites when required.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and delivery environments.
  • Strong organisational and analytical approach.
